8th Annual Silver Fox Fishing Tournament Reels in Major Support for Bahamas National Parks

July 22, 2026 – NASSAU, BAHAMAS

NASSAU, THE BAHAMAS – A fleet of 16 boats took to the waters from the Albany Marina on May 16th for the 8th Annual Silver Fox Fishing Tournament. Organized annually by the Callender siblings in memory of their father, Colin “The Silver Fox” Callender, this year’s event raised over $ 70,000 to support national parks managed by the Bahamas National Trust (BNT) across the archipelago. 

Despite challenging angling conditions on Friday, the weather was spectacular. As winds picked up, fishermen successfully raised mahi-mahi, wahoo, tuna, and catch-and-release billfish. 

Taking home the title of overall winner was Team Sapphire, captained by Luke Maillis, who brought in a mixed bag of mahi-mahi and yellowfin tuna alongside a released sailfish. The team also celebrated a junior angler victory. Azzurro Marie secured the runner-up spot, while first-time angler Nasseem Shaikh on the Well & Good took home the coveted Lady Angler Award. 

Colin Callender was an active, dedicated member of the BNT’s Wildlife Committee. Today, Jason Callender and his sisters proudly continue their father’s environmental legacy through generous donations to key BNT conservation initiatives. This includes funding for the enhancement of the Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park, as well as protection programs for the iconic flamingos in the Inagua National Park.

Reflecting on the event’s success, Jason Callender expressed his gratitude for the growing community impact.
