The Bahamas National Trust invites interested applicants to participate in a 5-day training workshop focused on the monitoring and conservation of landbirds in The Bahamas. Through a blend of classroom and field-based activities, this comprehensive workshop will cover landbird identification, monitoring techniques, eBird data entry, basic data analysis, and more. The workshop will take place at FRIENDS of the Environment in Marsh Harbour, Abaco from January 24th – 28th 2023.
This training workshop is part of a project that aims to standardize terrestrial avian monitoring protocols within BNT-managed national parks. The objective is to train local participants in the Programa de América Latina para las Aves Silvestres (PROALAS) bird survey protocols and build the capacity for landbird monitoring on-island.
This workshop is designed for environmental conservationists, natural resource managers, and volunteers residing in Abaco who are interested in assisting with long-term landbird monitoring within Abaco National Park. There is special interest in re-engaging local certified eco-tour guides. Upon successfully completing the workshop, participants are invited to assist with the first round of PROALAS surveys which will be conducted from January 30th – February 4rd, 2023.
