It’s an event that brings the community together and helps Bahamians celebrate the start of the holiday season with food, drinks, music and gifts for all ages and pocketbooks!
Fun and frolicking aside, the annual Christmas Jollification is all for a worthwhile cause. The Bahamas National Trust’s Retreat Garden received $92,000 as the net proceeds from the 2017 event. Organizers say this year’s fundraiser will go to support maintenance projects, like the completion of its decking and bathrooms, and administrative expenses such as salaries for its curator and assistant curator.
The beloved yuletide tradition kicked off with a private event for members of the Bahamas National Trust. Over three days, shoppers enjoyed the spirit of the season. Many got an early start to their Christmas shopping as they browsed along nature trails jammed-packed with people discovering one-of-a-kind artisan wares and tasty food stalls. With a wide-variety of goods for sale, Jollification presented a rare opportunity for shoppers who often find themselves stumped when it comes to gift-buying ideas for those picky persons on their list. Thoughtful presents that wouldn’t break the bank included everything from coffee, candles, cigars and confectionary to soaps, hand-made jewelry, plants and arts and crafts.
