In a typical year, for the past 20+ years in the BNT’s history in fact, you would have been looking forward to the annual slate of fall events in your national parks. This has been no typical year. But we didn’t need to tell you that or further remind you of what we feel we’re all missing out on in 2020. Truthfully, we miss seeing you the most, festively enjoying natural spaces and open-air events such as Wine & Art, Jollification, and Festival Noel.
Instead, we have pivoted, adapted, and been flexible to changing times. We have you to thank for that! Your ongoing support of the BNT this year has kept park wardens on the frontlines to protect vulnerable species and spaces, you have kept our programs sustained, and our staff on the job to do the work.
These virtual fall events are for you!
Conservation Champions
November 8th – 14th, 2020
Originally intended as a formal gala, planned within the 60th Anniversary of the BNT, due to COVID-realities the concept was moved digitally in an effort to safely and responsibly recognize awardees. Join us to celebrate the lifetime achievements of BNT’s Conservation Legends and publicly nominated Conservation Champions in a digital award week. In total, there are 22 Conservation Legends being recognized as outstanding leaders, visionaries, and pioneers in Bahamian conservation, and 37 Conservation Champions awarded in various categories. Awardees will be announced on Bahamas National Trust’s Facebook Page in a week-long commemoration. Like and follow for announcements!
Parks Fest
November 16th – 22nd, 2020
Marking the start of the fall season and holiday festivities in New Providence for many, events such as Wine & Art and Jollification were staples in the lives of BNT members, families, and fun-lovers. This year, the events you love have been reimagined to showcase fine art, crafts, and goods of 50+ Bahamian vendors in a digital marketplace powered generously by Bahamas Local. Support small Bahamian businesses, buy local, and enjoy 7 festive days of online shopping! Part proceeds will support The Retreat Gardens. What’s more? BNT Members will gain exclusive access to a virtual silent auction. Consider this is your friendly reminder to renew membership now if you’d like to be let in on all the goodies Parks Fest has to offer!
Festival Noel
November 30th – December 4th, 2020
In its 26th year, Grand Bahama’s original wine and art event can now be experienced virtually! Join the good cheer in a fun and festive week of social media announcements, raffles, and prizes. Online events lead up to Festival Friday (December 4th) with an exciting live broadcast, including fan-favourites like The Wheel of Joy and musical performances that are being preserved, but digitized. If you’ve never had the chance to attend Festival Noel in the past, you simply can’t miss a taste of the real thing! Proceeds from this event support all Grand Bahama national parks. Like and follow Rand Nature Centre on Facebook for more information coming soon.
We look forward to keeping you posted on event updates and specifics. Another important calendar date is December 1st, 2020, which marks Giving Tuesday- a global day of giving.
