THE EXUMA CAYS LAND AND SEA PARK – THE WORLD’S FIRST LAND AND SEA PARK

The beautiful clip you just watched is an excerpt from the film The Blue Sanctuary by Colin Ruggiero. It captures merely a fraction of the beauty of the world-famous Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park (ECLSP) and the challenges involved in caring for it. Established in 1958, ECLSP – with its breathtaking anchorages, vibrant marine life and unbelievably clear water – is truly one of the most stunning places on Earth. People travel from all over the world to experience the beauty of this pristine park and many critically endangered species find protection within its boundaries. The Bahamas National Trust is the custodian of this special place, but it belongs to the whole world. This is why we are asking you, and people like you all over the world who value the natural jewels of the earth, to support the gem that is ECLSP. ECLSP depends on donations. Please donate to preserve this special place.

ECLSP Protects Queen Conch, Spiny Lobster and Nassau Grouper populations.

WE NEED YOUR HELP TO INSTALL MOORING SYSTEMS THAT PRESERVE THE PARK

The Exuma Park is a popular destination for boaters. Like many marine parks, ECLSP has environmentally safe moorings installed at key locations throughout the park.  The primary reason mooring buoys are used over anchoring methods is because they preserve the seabed, including fragile coral reefs and seagrass.  Using moorings in the park ensures that this unique marine habitat remains as beautiful tomorrow, as it is today.

Moorings Help Protect The Park.

Most visitors to the park prefer to use moorings.  Moorings are generally easier to use.  They reduce the potential for boats dragging during the night and ending up too close to each other. Vessels tie up and release from them with relative ease. Everyone wins when mooring systems are used in ECLSP, we protect the environment, anchoring is safe and secure and the BNT receives much needed funding to care for the park.

PLEASE HELP US INSTALL 100 MOORINGS IN ECLSP

It costs $2,500 to install one mooring in ECLSP. You can help to preserve the park by donating toward the purchase of one mooring or by donating the full cost of a mooring. Will you help? Every donation, no matter how small, helps us reach our goal of 100 new moorings. Please donate to help us preserve ECLSP.
