A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE PIG ROAST EVENT
From its inception, supporters of the BNT’s Pig Roast have generated substantial funds to drive our mission forward. Thanks to our dedicated patrons, the funds raised have fueled important scientific research to conserve threatened species, provided crucial infrastructure in parks, and initiated community youth programs. The spirit of the Cuban Pig Roast, inspired by the joyous gatherings of families and friends in Cuba, is a reflection of our collective efforts in coming together to achieve conservation success.
The Cuban Pig Roast event was started by the late Manuel Jorge Cutillas: former chairman of Bacardi Limited, BNT Conservation Legend, and longtime supporter.

PIG ROAST 2022
Making a triumphant return after a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19, Pig Roast 2022 made significant strides in flamingo conservation in Inagua. Thanks to our generous supporters, over $100,000 was raised, aiding innovative efforts to monitor and eradicate invasive species that threaten flamingo nests and breeding grounds.

PIG ROAST 2020
Despite being held just weeks before the COVID-19 outbreak, the 2020 Pig Roast was a success, raising vital funds for restoration efforts at the Lucayan National Park in Grand Bahama. Our generous attendees and donors surpassed our fundraising goal, enabling the construction of a visitor’s centre, which is due to be completed in 2023.

PIG ROAST 2019
This Pig Roast saw record attendance, and supporters donated towards the purchase of a new van for environmental education programs on Andros. This vehicle continues to transport children and community members on field trips to national parks on Andros, inspiring a new generation of environmental stewards.

PIG ROAST 2018
Supporters of the 2018 Pig Roast event contributed to operations and enforcement programs in The Exuma Cays Land Sea Park. These funds facilitated the installation of park maintenance and operations equipment on Warderick Wells Cay, the heart of this renowned marine protected area.
